Safety glass is glass that does not splinter
into sharp pieces when smashed. Toughened
glass is made by heating a glass sheet and
then rapidly cooling it with a blast of cold
air, this causes it to shatter into rounded
pieces when smashed. Laminated glass is a
sandwich of a clear plastic film between two
glass sheets, this simply cracks when
smashed as the plastic holds the glass in
place.
